Libya: 16 migrants intercepted, 50 remain lost in the Mediterranean sea

Martime operations intercepted a boat of 16 migrants in the Mediterranean sea on Tuesday, landing on the shores of Al Khums on the Libyan coast.

Officials believe more than 40 migrants still remain lost in the Mediterranean sea.

One of the rescued migrants Jennifer explained her reason for taking the boat was due to a desire to live in Europe as the Libyan government does not ‘bother to help’ her situation.

Once the migrants disembarked the boats, they were taken to various detention centres in Libya.
